Positive outlook keeps driver in race

Allison Duncan has finished
in second place a half dozen times this season, and she figures there are two
ways to look at the situation -- constructive and destructive.
When she considers those finishes, she sees six potential victories that got
away.
But although she would rather win, taking second has kept her in the NASCAR
Western Late Model points race at Stockton 99 Speedway, which resumes at 6 p.m.
Saturday.
Duncan is running third in the points race, and the top four drivers are within
27 points. After a sub-par seventh-place finish in a double-points race on July
23, she has placed second in the past two events.
"I'm disappointed in the past weeks because I'm out there to try to win races,"
Duncan said. "But since no one is winning them all, we'll be tough if we keep
finishing second. Consistency will win this, and it's so close because everyone
has been consistent."
Pete Anderson Jr. of Stockton leads John Moore of Granite Bay 715-713. Duncan is
third at 696 and Chris Monez of Turlock had 687.
