fans watched Dave Byrd, (left), continued his winning ways by taking the
checkered flag first in a hard fought battle that
included some
spectacular racing and some wild wrecks. Byrd was chased by some of the biggest
names in the sport in Round one of the SRL HotWood Tri Holiday Classic.
Jim
Courage, #33, won the action packed $2,000 to win, 100 lap HotWood
NASCAR Western Late Model Shootout. Joey Stearns led
the early stages of
the event holding off the hard charging car of Mark
Holman, Slamming Sammy
Solari worked his way into the second position and was
looking for win number two. Slamming Sammy's night took a wrong turn when he got
into the back of
Joey Stearns and both of the chances at the victory
went up in smoke. Courage
took the checkered flag followed by #6, Sammy Solari
and Joey Stearns (both
driving all the way from the back of the pack), Mark
Holman and Harry Belletto rounded out the top five.
The
$500 to win HotWood American Limited Stock Car Shootout was won by
Matt Erickson followed by Joe Allen and #99, Donny
Darter. The Toyota Sedan race was won by Stan Hankins, followed by Jason Kearns
and Randy Fleming Sr.
The Hornet Main was won David Boyko followed by Miles
Humphreys and
Dan Evans, yes you read this correct, Miles Humphreys
finally lost a race!
