STOCKTON - Matt Scott of Pine Grove outlasted 19 other drivers to win the first leg of the Tri-Holiday Classic on Saturday night in front of about 1,000 fans at Stockton 99 Speedway.
Scott's opportunity came on the 54th lap when leader Stanislav Osterlund of Los Gatos had a flat tire, and Scott held off Justin Philpott of Tracy for the win.
The Late Models race had five yellows and a red flag. The red on the ninth lap saw the first three drivers at the time - Joey Stearns of Stockton, Brock Monroe of Escalon and Michael Wendt of Lodi - either knocked out of the race or sent to the back of the pack. Osterlund led for 43 laps before Scott took the lead for the final 46 laps.
The Late Models dash winner was Garland Tyler of Modesto.
Jay Lindstroth of Citrus Heights took advantage of the second restart in the 50-lap Modifieds main to finish ahead of Jason Bamberg of Loomis and Scott Winters of Tracy, respectively, while Rodney Tripp of Stockton earned the dash victory ahead of JR Courage of Rocklin.
Aaron Coonfield of Riverbank won the Super Stocks 30-lap main ahead of Matt Wendt of Lodi and Chad Holman of Manteca, respectively. Robert Daniels of Lodi finished ahead of Sammy Solari of Salida for the dash win.
Ben Lewis of Stockton earned the 40-lap Pure Stocks victory ahead of second-place Marc Borges of Manteca and Joey Sarafin of Stockton in third. Eric Gardea of Lockeford grabbed the dash win ahead of Peggy Sue Jared of Stockton.
Larry Toon Jr. of Modesto held off Dave Kong of Stockton for the B4 30-lap victory with Brad Mast of Manteca third and Mark Jacke of Stockton fourth. Richard Hull of Modesto took the dash win ahead of Jennifer Corder of Modesto.
