TWILIGHT TIME
===============

TO FIND AND DOCUMENT MANY OF STOCKTON'S DRIVERS BECAME A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB. BUT MORE UNIQUE WAS THE CHANCE TO SEE THEM TO THE END AS IN THE CASE OF 1950 HARDTOP CHAMP, DAVE DUNCAN, SHOWN BELOW IN 1975.

DAVE CONTINUED TO RACE, AND TO WIN, TO THE VERY END, PROGRESSING FRON STOCKTON HARDTOPS TO WEST CAPITOL SPEEDWAY SUPER MODIFIEDS ALONG THE WAY. A TREMENDOUS CRASH IN '73 BROKE HIS ARM AND SEVERAL RIBS AND GAVE DAVE A FEW DAYS OF HOSPITAL STAY. TWO YEARS LATER CAME THE FINAL CRASH. (NEXT PAGE) WHEN DAVE WOKE UP IN THE AMBULANCE FOR THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS, HE SAID TO HIMSELF, "IF YOU KEEP THIS UP YOU MAY NOT WAKE UP AGAIN, THIS IS MY LAST RACE."

'LITTLE DAVEY' DUNCAN HAD THE RIGHT STUFF.
