Shasta Raceway
Park Welcomes SRL Wild West Shootout
For Immediate Release
Wilton, Calif. (May 30th)--
For the second consecutive year the SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout
will travel to Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, California. The Wild West
Shootout drivers will make their only visit to Shasta’s 3/8
mile track Saturday, June 4th, 2005 in the “106X” 100 Lap
event. This coming Saturday’s race will be race number five of twelve on
the 2005 SRL Schedule.
Three time winner Jason Fensler leads the current point standings with a
27 point lead over Roseville’s Eric Schmidt. Fensler did not compete in
the SRL in 2004 and has not competed at Shasta Raceway Park since it was
re-configured before the start of the 2004 season. On the other hand
Schmidt finished second last year at Shasta and already has one victory at
Shasta this season. Troy Ermish and Ken Boyd are tied for the third
position just one point behind Schmidt. Boyd finished fourth last year at
Shasta while Ermish finished eighth. Rounding out the top five is
defending Series Champion Steve Belletto of Modesto. Belletto finds
himself five points out of second and is looking forward to racing at
Shasta after finishing sixth there last year.
Tracy’s Mark Smith is sixth in the point standings and is only seven
points behind second place Eric Schmidt. Smith finished fifth last
Saturday at Stockton 99 Speedway. Joey Zampa and the Valley Fab
Motorsports team find themselves in the seventh position after four races
this season. When the SRL visited Shasta in 2004 Zampa qualified fifth and
finished third. Roseville’s Jim Courage sits in the eight position after
four races this season. Courage Jr. has three top ten finishes to his
credit. Harold Rieker Jr. has jumped from 16th to ninth in the
last three races. Rieker Jr. has been riding a short hot streak with a
fifth position at Mesa Marin Raceway and a third last Saturday at Stockton
99 Speedway. Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year contender
Rusty Buholz of Palo Alto jumped back into the top ten in the point
standings. Buholz finished 11th at Stockton 99 Speedway
Saturday night. Jeff Belletto is one point out of the top ten in the 11th
position, followed by Jeremy Wood, Mike Mendenhall, Tracy Bolin, and Dave
Byrd.
Last years winner Ryan Foster is scheduled to compete, a long with Eric Graham and Howard Ford as they will help make up the twenty car field for the "106X" SRL Wild West Shootout event.
Troy Ermish and Jason Fensler lead the Apex Financial Group Qualifying Points. Ermish has qualified in the top five in all four events this season. Fensler set quick time at both Stockton races this season. Jeff Belletto trails Ermish and Fensler by three points. $5,000 will be divided between the top three drivers in qualifying points at the end of the 2005 season. Apex Financial Group is based in Stockton Ca, and specializing in home loans and the refinancing of property.
