Stockton 99 Speedway
2002 DIVISION CHAMPION
PURE STOCK DIVISION
DANNY Guibor, #97
Manteca, Ca.
DOB 1-30-79
At
the tender age of 23, this Manteca based
driver has a lot of racing under his belt. Moving from a stellar career in Mini
Stocks at Delta Speedway, Danny followed in his brother Guy’s footsteps at
Stockton. Danny’s second straight Pure Stock
championship equaled his brothers two in 1999 and 2000, making it four straight
years
for Guibor dominance of the division.
Danny, the 1999 division Rookie of the Year, came out of the bag running, with a 4th place season point finish in 99, followed by a 3rd place run in 2000, and now his two straight titles.
His 2002 season behind the wheel of his 78
Camaro consisted of 3 dash
wins, 4 main wins, and 15 main top five finishes running all 19 of the season
events. His 23 total top finishes in all events led the division for the year.
Danny’s total career stats are impressive and include 5 fast times, 23 heat wins, and a division leading 18 dash wins. He has collected 15 feature wins in four seasons to tie with Pete Anderson, Jr. and follow his brother Guy’s division leading total of 21. His total of 59 main top five finishes and 141 total top finishes in all events also stand as division bests.
Although
Danny led the division points from opening day, fierce competition from Michael
Wendt, Tom Bolin, Chad
Holman, and Johnny Bird, forced the issue to September 14th before he could
officially claim the crown.
Danny
helped pay the season bills working as a floor covering installer for Floors by
Harold W. Thompson of Stockton. His crew consisted of his father Rodney, brother
Guy, Don Tuggle, Jeff Gebhardt, Ed Tuggle, and Doug Sheehan, with his sponsor
list showing Floors by Harold W. Thompson, A & A Rossi Hay Service, Don Tuggle,
and Economy Signs of Ripon.
