NARC Hall of Famer Leroy Van Connett, (left), was at Stockton 99 Speedway
July 27, 2002 to see the USAC/BCRA Midget show. Another historical name won the
Main Tony Hunt, Son of USAC President Tommy Hunt.
Back in the days when you ran the same car on dirt and pavement, Leroy Van
Connett was equally at home on both surfaces. He was an 8-time NARC sprint car
champion, and was elected into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame a few years ago. Many
events at the San Jose Fairgrounds track featured Leroy Van Connett & Jimmy
Sills Howard Kaeding & Nick Rescino head to head in dirt sprint racing.
Leroy raced Hard Tops at Stockton 99 Speedway.
Leroy was also elected to the Motorsports Press Association (MSPA) Hall
Of Fame in 1994.
