Bette M. Melton, 79, of Stockton died Saturday at home. She was born in Los Angeles and moved to Stockton when she was nine. Melton served on the San Joaquin County Grand Jury in 1976-1977, and had been a sustaining member of Junior Aid of Stockton since 1956. She was a volunteer at Dameron Hospital for 30 years and at Maui Memorial Hospital for 20 years. Melton was also a member of Stockton Golf and Country Club and a charter member of Women's Executive Club of Stockton.
Survivors: son, Dorsey B. Melton Jr. of Stockton; a brother; and a granddaughter.

Stockton 99 Speedway is saddened to announce that Bette Melton, daughter of Speedway founder, Billy Hunefeld, passed away today in Stockton. Bette was part owner of Stockton 99 Speedway. She will be missed.
